Jessica brings over twenty years of experience, as a hair stylist and colorist, to Pelo Salon. She began her professional training at the Aveda Institute for Cosmetology in Minneapolis, completing their program in 1988, as a teenager. Jessica went on to apprentice at Vidal Sassoon in Chicago, specializing then in haircutting.
Wanting more, she came to NYC in 1992, landed a position at John Dellaria, Soho, and trained in Pyrimetrics hair design, and completed the colorist training with Jo Blackwell, now owner of Dop Dop Salon in Soho. Jessica was a Senior Stylist and Education Director at the Beehive Salon, when it was over on Lorimer. She has been working independently for the last few years.
“My love affair with hair began as a child, first experimenting on Barbie, and then my own hair with my mom’s pinking shears. In middle school, armed with a clipper, I began shaving mohawks on friends, and more experimental cuts and colors on myself.”
“I went to Minneapolis College of Art and Design for a couple of semesters while still in high school, and figured out that what I loved was color theory and art history. I bring both of these passions with me to work every day, and I still love researching all things vintage, hair, fashion, art, and design. My style is classic hair with a modern presence.”
